Tellin’ It Like It Is 11 min, 2007 For the past fifty years, Elouise Westbrook has been the voice of Bayview-Hunters Point, San Francisco’s last African-American neighborhood. A legend in her own community as well as among San Francisco’s political elite, she fearlessly confronted mayors and senators in order to improve the lives of her people. This film highlights some of her major victories while focusing on the powerful personality that made them all possible. Link to website The Beat Within 26 min, in production Will and Perry are two formerly incarcerated youth who forged an unlikely friendship in prison and helped each other turn their lives around. Now on the outside, they return to juvenile halls to run the same writing workshops that sparked their own transformations.
